The origins of Cordon Rouge are closely tied to those of Grand Marnier. Louis-Alexandre had an epiphany to fuse cognac – the most superior of all spirits and a source of pride in southwestern France since the 17th century – with fragrant orange essence. He spent over a decade crafting and perfecting the liqueur that would eventually be recognized as Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge. This iconic liqueur was born in 1880 and the rest is history.
